the boy who played with fire

The last 36 hours have been interesting to say the least.

I started off by waking up at 5:30 and getting to work by 6:15, since I had to leave from work early for an optometrist appointment. That's the earliest I've been to work on record, I believe. The day was busy but nothing noteworthy happened for me.

Work was noteworthy for Taylor, however. Their Assistant GM 1 is leaving in a month, and she was approved to take over his role when he leaves. So she'll be getting a nice promotion in a month. Congratulations!

I left work at about 3:30, fed Maverick, then headed out to my optometrist with The Girl Who Played With Fire in hand. I started that book on Saturday, and I was immediately engrossed by the story. By the time I was at the optometrist, I was about halfway done.

Then something completely unusual happened — I didn't stop reading. I didn't stop reading almost the entire night. I kept the Mavs-Heat game on mute and checked the score occasionally. But I could not for the life of me stop reading. I was too into the story. By my bedtime, I was within 60 pages of finishing so I decided I would just tough out the rest of the night. I finished the book around 11:45 PM. I read about 340 pages that day. I think that's by far a personal best.

The sad part is that now I don't have the next one to read. No local bookstore has it, but I may just buy it on Amazon since it's cheaper there anyways. The other sad part is that the third and final book in the series was not intended to be the final book in the series. The author died in 2004 and the three that have been released were all done so posthumously. That means that the trilogy will undoubtedly end with some loose ends and potentially even a cliffhanger that will never be resolved. Sigh...

Then I woke up this morning to Maverick puking in my room. Super.
